Re: 07 Girls
Can we please just stop Albion, Challenge or Dash will never change. Those talented and able will leave. Those choosing to stay for convenience or unconcerned with competition between players will stay. Dash had the best chance and facilities and screwed it up by not going to ECNL. Challenge and Albion parents are to soft to travel either way due to distance. So no worries about that happening anytime soon. Let's find something productive and possible to speak about let this one die!! We have talented young ladies that will do just fine.

Who is we?
“We have talented young ladies that will do just fine”
Sounds like you aren’t thrilled about consolidating talent.

Re: 07 Girls
Each team has at max 4-5 players of the appropriate level. So to really compete with Solar you would have to at the minimum fill in the starting 11 with the remaining 8-9 players from the other two clubs. That is a big ask.Best guess wrote: ↑Mon Jan 17, 2022 12:28 pmAssuming you know something about the 07 age group, how many players do you think A & C are missing out on for their NL team?
There would also be benefit to trimming the fat, not just what you get from bringing new ones on board. But taking out the ones that really don't still belong there would be beneficial to maintain a certain minimum standard
Re: 07 Girls
Nope Consolidation would be great. Just understand the market, Keep that hope alive. I applaud the belief.
Re: 07 Girls
Solar are number 1 in country, there are not 11 top 07 players in Houston so stop the hate. Solar do cheat though, watch they will get caught, do they develop or recruit to win ? Think about that question.
Re: 07 Girls
Solar isn't a realistic standard. You can count on one hand the number of clubs in the country who wouldn't get blown off the field in a matchup of all age groups. Just stop with the Solar comparisons.
Instead focus on, say, DKSC, who are on track to qualify 5 of 6 age groups for Champions League. They are very successful and top clubs in the country, by any standard.
But there is zero reason our Houston teams should be getting blown out by them. Houston could absolutely could put 15 girls per age group together that are just as talented as those DKSC teams.
But we don't. We let the same tired old coaches divide us. We are too scared of change. We are comfortable in our little bubbles....
And we get our asses whipped.
And then our kids age out (never quite reaching their potential, limited in college choices, and wondering "what if" regarding stunted development and exposure), and we leave the next generation to have these same conversations.

Re: 07 Girls
Parents are unrealistic.
How many Houston 07’s are elite in at least 4/5 categories? I’d say 11 girls; These are the girls going to respectable D1 schools. The 5/5 are going to Power 5. Most ECNL,ECRL,and GA players are 3/5.

Re: 07 Girls
Very much agree with using DKSC or FC Dallas as the measuring stick as the 07 Solar team is a once in a decade consolidation of many of the best players in Dallas. As far being blown out and this being the 07 thread important to not that Challenge 07 beat DKSC in their only matchup so far this year (next one is in April) 4-1 back in early October.Pass the buck wrote: ↑Mon Jan 17, 2022 7:24 pmSolar isn't a realistic standard. Re: 07 Girls
It’s a Dash coach or important parent trying to split everyone as if they can’t be good no one can. Do you notice that when players leave Dash they go to Colorado or Dallas as they have such a bad experience with them.
I would like to see new faces on my DD team but I’m not driving to Dallas for any reason at all.

Re: 07 Girls
We should think about how we value these characteristics. Granted, it varies by position. But- the last three (Technique, Speed, Soccer IQ) are what really matter. Yes, size and power become more important in the final stages of development at 16, 17,18 yrs age... Overvaluing Size and Power at early ages is what has gotten Houston into this mess in the first place. There are plenty of those players that only check the first two boxes on the top teams in our city. Has been that way since they were first selected as 10 or 11 year olds. Philosophy is totally wrong here. That is why we lose.Parents wrote: ↑Mon Jan 17, 2022 7:47 pmParents are unrealistic.
