C & A have a gentleman’s agreement on everything.
1.) Don’t recruit past this geographic line
2.) I’ll attend your money maker tournament if you will attend mine (amounts to a wash)
3.) Don’t let anyone else in ECNL Houston so we can recruit their players once they get to U12. North and South very respectively.
4.) Vote to keep Sting with 3 teams in Texas so they will side with us on conference wide votes.
Pretty simple stuff. The interesting part will be the addition of Colorado. That’s 4 teams that could vote differently alongside the 5 teams in Dallas who know it’s rigged. Don’t hold your breath but things could get interesting in 2024.

Re: We are Challenge
From a Colorado perspective, our current situation is we only get 13 ECNL games in the Northwest Conference, plus Colorado plays girls high school soccer in the spring while the other states have girls HS soccer in the fall. Our current closest matches out of state are a seven hour drive to Utah. So it's a bad situation, as our geography kind of makes us the pay-to-play capital. We make 2-3 plane flights every year just to play league games, plus 2-3 showcases.
Despite the cost, parents of the clubs are unhappy we don't get enough games because the state soccer association won't let us play in their leagues, even playing a year up. Our club generally has the kids travel with chaperones so if parents can't go for financial reasons, there's always the livestream.
If we combined with AZ, NV, UT for a new conference that's a lot more plane flights for AZ and NV clubs who are used to driving to SoCal, and you don't solve the problems of lack of games or the high school schedule.
So Texas looks like the best fit for us, even if no one in Texas is thrilled about the extra trip or two. You could split the divisions with 4xCO, 2xOK, +2 clubs (Houston or San Antonio/Austin) in one division, and everyone else in the other division. Within your division, you get a home-and-home series, and then one game against the other half of the division and in a 16 team conference you'd still get 22 games. The good news is we'd get more games! The bad news is we'd probably lose more because as y'all know, the Texas Conference is tough!
For the Northwest Conference, if Colorado moves to Texas it gets everyone there on the same high school schedule, and they can easily add games to do home-and-home for everyone to give them 18 games. Portland and Seattle are only 2-3 hours away from each other. The only ones who have to commit to extra travel are the two Utah clubs, and maybe Boise, but otherwise it's a much better situation for them too.
What are you getting if Colorado teams join the Texas Conference? Real Colorado National is in the same conversation as Solar. Between Rapids and Athletico, one of the two is a playoff team traditionally, so they'd at least be in the mix in Texas. Pride is weak in every age group because southern Colorado doesn't have a large enough population to justify an ECNL team, but for travel/scheduling purposes it's easier to have a fourth team. They would be a great fit for ECNL-R, but we don't have it in Colorado.

Agreed in deed. This should get interesting. Will grab the popcorn and watch from the side lines. Albeit the statements above are #truth. Can only presume that this should be posted on C &A's website.......09parent wrote: ↑Tue Feb 21, 2023 12:21 pmHOF post.Certainty wrote: ↑Tue Feb 21, 2023 12:08 pmI can say with certainty that the ONLY people that would benefit from this are the players and parents. Re: We are Challenge
Teams are already formed. But in April they will take your money and find you a spot. No such thing as real tryouts anywhere in Houston soccer landscape
Re: We are Challenge
Ain’t that the truth. Last time PO took my money he lied about placements for a number of my daughters! Till next time.
Re: We are Challenge
Sounds like that is a credit to PO if all your daughters didn't stay on the top team. Usually in Houston you can pull the "I'm paying $10k in tuition for my multiple kids, therefore they should all be top team". Unless they are all rockstars, maybe someone got it right.truthhurts wrote: ↑Sat Mar 18, 2023 3:05 pmAin’t that the truth. And if you are right then why not have the guts to move to another club and earn a spot? Something doesn't add up.
Re: We are Challenge
I’m calling BS on PO lying to you about your daughters placement. PO’s own granddaughter is on the 07G RL team. His niece is on a 3rd team in the 06 age group. Last year his grandson was a play-up on a 3rd team. The same kid is on the first team now in his own age group. His other grandson is on the 3rd team in the youth academy and one of his nephews is on the 09B RL team. Say what you want about PO, but most parents think he’s fair and honest. The fact that he has close family members on 2nd and 3rd teams is proof he’s a decent man and not the money-grabbing liar you’re making him out to be.truthhurts wrote: ↑Sat Mar 18, 2023 3:05 pmAin’t that the truth. Stop hating on the man just because you’re still bitter your daughter didn’t turn out to be the superstar you thought she was.
