The systematic destruction of community and rec soccer programs by Lonestar has done enough damage in Austin. PAYSL will never be an elite select soccer "threat", but it must be protected, fostered, and grown to help provide good soccer programming to a ton of kids. Not everything must be forced into a "Select / ELITE" framework with high fees and silliness.

Winter is coming! :)
That usually means good or bad things…

Let me guess JD coming to run the girls side, the current DOC runs boys, and PAYSL takes it huge rec program to try and become the top select program lol

Glenn is just doing his training, afaik. Good guy, but I think he just need to step back focus on himself as he was getting stretched. When you have volunteer coaches and demanding parents, it can be a bit much.

Where’s glenn at now days? Notice since they hired the new DOC last fall he’s gone. Hes a decent d2 coach but overall was a good guy. I wouldn’t have made him DOC either, but would’ve tried to keep him on staff for girls side.

Paysl hired a DOC for the select program. What’s the point of a doc for a club that has parent coaches and focuses more on the rec side and low level select play? Surely money could be spend better.
I don't know. My guess is he would take over at some capacity as a real coach. Like other clubs, PAYSL has their issues, I'm not sure if a DOC addresses the right one.

PAYSL is the best value, age for age, in the Austin area. My child played college soccer, and It started at the fields off Windermere at PAYSL.

Many parents will tell you that for many, what you get from them is way more than you pay.

I hope they continue to thrive
There is room for lots of clubs in this big and ever growing city. What I don't like is when clubs buy out other clubs to attempt to reduce competition, and reduce the chances for the good players. Having been at LS for 2 years with my daughter, and her telling me she doesnt want to play competitive soccer, we were happy to put her in PAYSL. The only concern we had was they were trying to get the girls to move to select soccer as they got older.. but my daughter has no interest in playing competitive.. she wants to play rec. Luckily they still keep a rec team.. which is not that good.. and plays against younger kids from other teams, but she gets the enjoyment of being in a team, and enjoying soccer as a rec sport.
This is literally the best story I’ve heard lately.
A young player enjoying soccer.
I’m being dead serious when I say this.
Some other local clubs should come out and watch a day of players enjoying soccer.

And since I’m on a rant, I’ve seen just about every field locked up and posted no trespassing during our little pandemic.
I used to see groups of guys come out to my area of town and just kick it around. Sometimes organize a game.
I would see an occasional dad and kids kicking it around.
Now I can’t think of a single place to go for kicking a ball around.
I know there are some around. My point is, cities, counties, schools should be ashamed of themselves.
People are literally forced to pay to play somewhere.

Like I say, good to hear a young player enjoying the sport.
Agreed. Isn’t that what is all about. Glad you’ve found a good fit for your daughter.
