KSC has a board meeting tonight and one of the topics is to reduce the number of select clubs from four TSC, DTH, Challenge & PSC (PSC is still in existence as an affiliate of DTH) down to two, DTH and Challenge. This has been confirmed as a topic to be discussed if not tonight, sometime soon. We all know that TSC is going to become part of DTH to create one boys club. The question is, what will happen on the girls side? Have the Bakers made a deal with PO'T to remove competition for girls at KSC and grandfather the existing DTH Girls teams to finish out with DTH and only allow new U11 select girls teams at MP under Challenge? Or do they just tell the girls side, sorry, the deal with PSC just did not work out, and fold the girls side of the program with DTH since they did not have the great and wonderful sucess in their first year going up against C, and tell them to talk to PO'T to play select soccer next year. Why would the Bakers make a deal. Are they under pressure by the girls side to get results that has not happened, and figured out that C was just too tough for them to go up against long term? Did PO'T threaten to start a boys program at MP with TSC merging with DTH? What about KSC? Since PSC is technically still an organization that is affiliated with DTH but has legal standing, is KSC going to kick out a club from MP just because they feel they can and should? Do the members of DTH know that this is going on without their knowledge? It's all about the money, power and egos and any one who claims it is not is full of it. I don't honestly know if all of this is correct and I'm making some assumptions here, but something sure sounds funny and if Challenge is involved, it's probably true.

If you cant develop and go to the top, might as well merge and get the ready made kids and go to the top.

Didn't Smitty just recently go back to Challenge. He was the KIng of recruiting over development and Pure royalty when it came to being a salesman for the next merger here in Austin.

Smitty can't do that here because the clubs here know better. The Rush has improved its program so much that the steady stream from The Woodlands is over and Albion is kicking their butts on the other side. They do know know how to develp players just snatch up talent from other club. Sorry the big C is no longer the only club in town. They have shown no improvement in the last three years and its only going to get worst.

If this helps the speculators....Smitty and Lee Baker have a long standing relationship.
  2.
Was at the meeting last night and all I will say is that a proposal was made, some concerns were addressed and nothing was decided about anything. No matter what happens in the end, there will be opponents and proponents, there will be happy people and unhappy people and some people will take sides while others will try to appease everyone.

Just like on EVERY SINGLE YOUTH SPORTS TEAM IN AMERICA.............

and before we talk about EGOS, remember that EVERYONE has one and no one likes to lose...... ;)

Smitty proposed to Baker, didn't you know they have a long standing relationship? Smitty's wife was not thrilled about it but he told her not to worry it is all a part of recruiting ;)

Perhaps the KSC wants to narrow clubs just because it takes more volunteer hours to deal with 4 seperate clubs. The board members are caught in the middle of recruiting wars, double dealing and back stabbing. The focus becomes more politcal and not about the kids within the Rec program.

Katy Youth Soccer Club went through this and will only keep one club at a time or then it becomes a pain in the ass.

    Or perhaps ...

Challenge is getting attacked on all fronts, including their own backyard (which maybe the biggest battle). Instead of trying to win the battle on the field, they decide to use their board buddies to try to win the battle off the field.

    ...perhaps...

I am for anything that is good for kids. Nothing in life is good for EVERY single kid out there. Parents naturally want what is best for kids but there is a slant towards their kid. As a parent I TOTALLY understand this. If something was good for the larger group but not good for my child, it would be very hard to put that aside and do the right thing. Not impossible, just very hard. I think almost anyone would agree with that.

There are differing opinions about what is best for soccer kids everywhere. Just ask FFPS or the YMCA....... I think their view would be a little different from all of ours.

    ...perhaps...

winning the battle on the field is too difficult. Development is too difficult. "Development" used to be easy. Mergers are the in thing now. Mergers are the new "Development" philosophy. Mergers are easy.

    ...perhaps...

Everyone at the meeting was very passionate about what they felt was right for the kids in their organizations, whether DTH, TSC, Challenge or KSC. There are different points of view on what's best. I think it is healthy that all these things be aired now in club or team meetings so that the best decision can be reached with as many people being as informed as possible.

I am having meetings with my two teams parents Wednesday night to inform them of what has been discussed.

I have no doubt that everyone at that meeting is very passionate about their position. Why would anyone want to put their child in the hands of someone who didn't have a vision that they were passionate about? Wouldn't you want your child to have that kind of a teacher at their school?

In the end, it will come down to a democratic voting process. I believe our country has lost many lives to see that we have that right..............

There is a long history of people being passionate about the kids in their words in meeting and speeches to people, but their actions only show they are passionate about themselves.

And the democratic voting comes after their passionate speeches about the kids. It is too late when they find out that the kids werent what they were passionate about.

Nothing is sure in life. Sometimes you just have to go with your gut. I respect anyone who votes their conscience, even if it doesn't agree with MY point of view. But, I am still going to support what I think is right, regardless of what the topic happens to be, not just in soccer.

I'm not sure I understand why KSC is involved in this bullcrap in the first place. If they have 4 clubs with 40 teams, with the merger they have 1 club with 40 teams. What does KSC have to gain/lose in all of this nonsense? It seems like they are being asked to be the parent to resolve the issue between the kids that can't get along and won't come up with a resolution to their own problems. And then we trust our youth in the hands of these same egotistical, money grabbin' people?

It's difficult to know when clubs are acting for the kids best interest.

dual.. what are the items being voted on?
    What are the choices?
